Something that I have learned since the last blog entry is that your main character has to be a fully formed person with childhood memories and old loves and family even if you aren't going to put all of that in the book. To have a really good character, You have to have a very detailed backstory in your head or on a separate outline. Once your character is a fully-formed person, it will be easier to write the rest of the story and have the reader's sympathy.
So far I have the prologue/hook of the story and part of the beginning/rising action. I have done research on character development.
I didn't have a very full character before I started writing and it would have been easier if I had made the character in my outline instead of just making a story line.
My next step of action is to go back to my outline and make a detailed life for the main character, continue to develop rising action, and read more about how to make good characters that the readers can relate to.
